Why Budhbak Exists
For decades, subcultural streetwear in India was forced to look westward—borrowing Tokyo street grids, Brooklyn hip-hop iconography, or European skate culture. While that rebellion was electric, it was profoundly borrowed.
We asked an urgent question: Where is our own vernacular weight? Where is Kabir’s searing rejection of hollow hierarchy? Where is the razor-sharp nuance of 2,000-year-old Sanskrit verses, or the irrepressible cadence of gully banter? Budhbak translates the subcontinent’s deep poetic counter-narratives into unyielding, premium heavyweight garments designed for our bodies and our everyday truths.
